Tomorrows Retail Flooring

As the lack of young professionals entering the industry remains an ongoing concern for many flooring companies, the Academy for Excellence in Flooring is pleased to announce the latest addition to its group of qualified Master Installers, Sam Willis.

Following in the footsteps of his father, 29-year-old Sam Willis has completed an intensive three-day pass or fail course, testing every aspect of his installation skills to ensure the quality of his work meets with the high standards set out by the Academy.

“Like many I expect, I started off in the trade working with my father to earn money in the school holidays and discovered that I really enjoyed the work.

“As I entered the industry on a fulltime basis, I really wanted to learn more and to keep up to date with the latest techniques. The culmination of this was finding a way of being recognised for the quality of my work and a couple of colleagues, already Master Installers, recommended the course.

“The course was brilliant, really informative yet, at the same time, relaxed and I learnt new techniques, important in my continued learning. It has also had a positive impact in obtaining work, something that’s important in building a career in the industry.”

With Sam actively promoting his Master Installer certification through social media and on text messages and emails sent to clients, he is fully leveraging his status; believing it is instrumental in modern working practice.

Sam continued: “I explain to all my potential customers why I carry the badge and exactly what it represents in terms of reassurance and the quality of my work.

“I would recommend anyone to undertake the course and would point out that the two-year workmanship warranty, fully backed by Quick-Step, is a great help in securing work.”

The Quick-Step Master Installer scheme is available as a combined wood and laminate course or for the brand’s luxury vinyl, LIVYN, and takes places at the Academy’s state-of-the-art facility in Manchester. Course details and costs are available from the Academy for Excellence in Flooring.
