Kind-hearted staff from luxury vinyl flooring specialist Karndean Designflooring have raised £11,000 in support of three charities – Breast Cancer Now, Mentor Link and Evesham Adventure playground – as part of its annual charity golf day at Hilton Puckrup Hall Hotel, Tewkesbury.

After the success of previous golf days, raising funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital, St Richard’s Hospice and CLIC Sargent to name but a few, Karndean decided once again to host the event this year, with the money raised being split between three charities, two of which are local to Evesham.
Paul Barratt, Managing Director of Karndean Designflooring, said: “We chose these three charities because they are all doing vital work, improving and potentially saving lives, so the golf day was the perfect opportunity to support their causes and recognise their hard work. We appreciate the time and immense effort that went into organising this event, and I extend my thanks to all who made it such a success.”

The event also featured a raffle and an auction, with prizes including a framed and signed England cricket test match shirt, a whole day spent on the airfield and military testing ground at Duxford – including a flight in a tiger moth – and Swarovski crystal jewellery.

Breast Cancer Now is the UK’s largest breast cancer research charity, which supports 450 scientists making vital discoveries, campaigns for more accessible treatments and raises awareness to help detect the disease earlier.

Mentor Link is a Worcestershire-based charity and one of two nominated by Karndean staff. Dedicated to supporting vulnerable and distressed children and young people by providing them with a volunteer mentor, Mentor Link offers listening support and guidance to young people during difficulties in their lives such as bullying and traumatic bereavement.

Evesham Adventure Playground is another cause, local to Karndean’s Evesham base, nominated by staff, enriching the lives of young people and their families by ensuring they have the space to have fun together, providing various clubs and activities including out of school clubs, holiday play schemes, youth clubs, a toddler group and a breakfast club.

Sam Dawson, Manager of Evesham Adventure Playground, commented: “All of us at the Adventure Playground are extremely grateful for Karndean’s support. The funds that have been raised will make a big difference in helping to keep all our activities running to a high standard, and we can see from our visitors’ faces that the playground has a real positive impact on their family life and general wellbeing. I’d like to say a huge thank you to all at Karndean for their contribution.”
